A Christmas message from our District Grand Prefect.

Dear Brethren,
Who would have thought last Christmas that we would only meet for two and a half months
in our respective Councils this year… and who could have envisaged the lockdowns, social
distancing and isolation we have all had to endure? Yet, despite all this, we have kept in
touch by telephone and virtual meetings – and the word ‘Zoom’ has become part of our
Masonic vocabulary!
I would like to thank you, the Allied Brethren of East Lancashire for your tenacity and
determination in facing up to these tremendous challenges in a time of uncertainty and
unprecedented change.
Please continue to keep in touch – particularly with those who may be alone at Christmas –
and do maintain regular contact with your fellow members by meeting virtually on the same
dates as your normal Councils meetings.
Thankfully we now have the knowledge and reassurance that effective vaccines are now
available and are being administered to the key workers and those at high risk. Let us pray
that it will not be long before we can replace these virtual meetings with actual ‘physical’
meetings and once again enjoy the camaraderie of Freemasonry that we all love and
cherish so much.
Finally, Margaret and I extend to you, your families and friends, a very happy Christmas and
a peaceful, healthy but mainly safe 2021.
Sincerely and Fraternally
Mervyn F Wilson
