Herts & Beds installation of a new District Grand Prefect.

Visitors from all over the country, including East Lancs members, descended on Letchworth Garden City to support the installation of RWBro Ian Crossley as the new District Grand Prefect for Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The meeting was held at “The Cloisters”, a remarkable building, which was originally built as a school in 1905, used by the Army during 1939-45, was left in disrepair and the owners lacked the funds to restore it to its former glory donated it to the local masonic fraternity who raised the money and masonic meetings have been held there since 1950. If you ever get the chance to visit this fascinating building, I can assure you it is worth the effort.

This was a fine setting for the Grand Master, Thomas Firth Jackson, to be received into the District Grand Council and take over proceedings in his own inimitable style. The Grand Master then obligated, invested and installed RWBro Crossley as the Dist.G.Prefect, who was then proclaimed by the Grand Director of Ceremonies. RWBro Crossley installed a new Deputy and the Grand team retired from the Council as the regular business of the District was concluded.

100+ Allied members enjoyed a fine festive board before the journey home.
